Gilbert & Mac takes pride in providing their vendors and customers with excellent quality patties, sourced from natural ingredients, and infused with the great authentic flavors of the Caribbean. With their delicious vegan Jamaican style patties, they give consumers the opportunity to enjoy a variety of rich Caribbean flavors with each bite.
A commitment to authenticity, quality, and sustainability. Using only natural, vegan ingredients, they strive to maintain the cultural essence of Jamaican patties while making them accessible to a broader health-oriented audience.
They needed packaging that not only highlighted the culturally rich identity but also maintained its freshness and sustainable appeal. As a smaller entity, they also required a packaging partner who could offer flexibility, collaboration, and support to grow their business.
At Allcard Packaging, we adopted an innovative and holistic approach to meet Gilbert & Mac's unique needs. We chose eco-friendly materials that offered excellent barrier properties to keep the patties fresh, aligning with their sustainability goals. Inspired by Caribbean culture, our design team created eye-catching packaging that celebrated bold colors and iconic visuals. Each SKU featured unique color schemes and graphics to easily differentiate between flavors. We optimized our production process to handle multiple SKUs seamlessly, without compromising on speed or quality.
The new packaging was a huge success, resulting in increased sales within the first quarter of the product’s launch. The eco-friendly materials used contributed to a significant reduction in plastic waste. The vibrant and authentic packaging resonated well with consumers, enhancing their overall purchasing experience.
Ian Gilbert
Gilbert & Mac Inc.
Entrepreneurship is something I have been drawn to since I was a teenager and have been involved in several ventures in Jamaica, my country of birth.
Every child in Jamaica grew up eating beef patties as it is a norm for patties as a lunch time meal. I became a vegetarian at age 13 and there ended my patty experience in its purest form as vegetarian and vegan patties then and now just do not have the flakiness of beef patties because of the beef suet used in the pastry of beef patties.
My childhood friend Leslie Mclean who owns Flakes ‘N’ Tings in Pennsylvania USA has always been a master at creating recipes and has been making patties for the last 20 years, first in the UK and now in the USA. We had the opportunity to meet 4 years ago when I recognised he was doing both vegan and beef patties. I was able to convince him that it's best to position yourself in the patty market on the vegan side as the world has become more health conscious and Canada is arguably the vegan capital of North america. Leslie has perfected the flakiness of the pastry of our brand of vegan patties and that's why we focus solely on Jamaican style vegan patties.
Allcard Packaging's team of professionals were willing to work with a small entity like Gilbert & Mac Inc. They appreciated our size and helped us grow quickly. They took our sample packaging and significantly improved it, creating superior packaging that makes our brand stand out in the marketplace. Additionally, their team went the extra mile to accommodate all our needs, from financing to packaging design."
